'Virtual' Tour of Turvey Church Part 2
The Chancel, and Sanctuary
The Chancel runs from the chancel steps to the Vestry and the Sanctuary is the area immediately surrounding the altar.  Before the 19th Century renovations of the church the altar stood halfway down the current Chancel area.
Here  we see the altar at the east end of Turvey church.  This section of the church was added between 1852 and 1854.  On the right is detail of the floor tiles that are
all around the adge of the church and go across
in front of the altar.
The Chancel lights were gifted to the church by Mrs G Allen in memory of her husband, Rupert Allen of Turvey House.  They were designed by Bernard West ARIBA.
The stained glass above the altar.
The fantastic stained glass
window behind the altar.
